Rambles

Hi, Hello.

Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.

β€” Oscar Wilde.

Hello, friends!

I’m just starting up this blog, so it’s gonna be rocky for a while. (And if you’re somehow reading this in the far-flung future, I hope everything is ship-shape amazing by now.)

This post is just to introduce myself a bit and to give you an idea of what’s going on here. So, I’m Anna: INFJ, leo, witchy cat lady, writer, recent college graduate, and an avid reader. I’m still getting my feet wet as an indie writer (as of right now, I haven’t even published my first book, but that’s coming, just wait).

My plans for the blog right now are horrendously underdeveloped. I hope to create a little community of indie writers/participate in other indie communities through this blog. I’ll share some updates on my book progress, maybe some book reviews (hopefully primarily indie books), and tips/tutorials.

If you have a book you’d like me to review on the blog, want to trade guest blog posts and/or etc., just head over to the contact page and send me a message.

Anyway, thanks for hanging out with me!

IWSG: Finishing the Damn Thing.

Hello, Friends!

This is my first post for Insecure Writer’s Support Group and let me tell you, it’s coming at the right time. I’ve always struggled to finish whatever novel I’ve started—which is to say I’ve never finished a single novel. I always get about 20k words in and give up.

I look at what I’ve written and I think to myself: Wow, this is utter shit. AND then I trash it and don’t look back. This insecurity is how I’ve spent the last decade never getting anything finished.

And that grumbly, self-loathing asshole is climbing back to the surface again now that my WIP is at about 15k words. I’m seeing all the flaws of my hastily written words, the weak characters, the out of place scenes and I want to just set it on fire.

I’d like to be able to give y’all some brilliant insight or mind-blowing tip to overcome the whatever you wanna call it– inner critic, perhaps?

But I ain’t got nothing for you, friends, besides a comrade in the war against ourselves to remind you:

Fixing the shitty first draft is just part of the process.

We can do it. You can do it! I can do it!

If you’re a writer who has some insight for those of us struggling to finish the first draft or just want to share your own struggles with insecurity, feel free to chat with me in the comments below~!

Anyway, thanks for hanging out with me!

The purpose of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group is “to share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds! ”
